Dr. Ciarán Carey is a chartered engineer with Roughan & O’Donovan (ROD). Currently, Ciarán is involved in the management and delivery of the enhancing Motorway Operation Services (eMOS) programme of works for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) which includes an upgraded Motorway Operations Control Centre, deployment of ITS technology, and development of an overarching, adaptive system to allow implementation of variable speeds on the M50 and more integrated road management services. One particular area of responsibility for Ciarán within eMOS is management of the C-Roads Ireland C-ITS pilot which seeks to deploy, trial and evaluate Day-1 and future Cooperative-ITS (C-ITS) services in Ireland. Previous to eMOS Ciarán has experience on multiple ITS related projects for TII. In addition to his work on TII projects, since joining on completion of his doctoral studies, Ciarán has continued to work on a number of research projects with the company’s research team Roughan & O’Donovan Innovative Solutions (ROD-IS). Since 2020 Ciarán is an Executive Board member with ITS Ireland.
