Sr.Research Engineer

Javier is SR. Research Engineer at Applied Research and Technology (ART) entity of Collins Aerospace in Cork, Ireland. He holds a Master’s degree in Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems and possesses an MBA. Javier’s deep-seated passion for drones drives his commitment to developing the industry, participating in various influential groups, including EUROCAE WG105, and actively engages in regulatory workshops and conferences.

With nearly 3 years of dedicated involvement in the U-space ecosystem, Javier serves as the technical lead for the EALU-AER SESAR project at Collins and he is involved in SPATIO and ENSURE projects. Prior to this role, he accumulated valuable experience in U-Space R&D projects, such as AMU-LED, BAUD, SAMVA, SAFIR-med…., while working as Project M. Engineer and Business Development at EHang Europe & LatAm.

Regarding his operational skills, he has been involved in eVTOL certification processes and has a wide experience managing different UAS operations, and securing flight authorizations working with different Civil Aviation Authorities worldwide, such as Drone Light Shows & complex eVTOL flights, holding multiple licenses related to this domain such as A1/A3, A2, STS-01 & STS-02 EASA Drone Pilot licenses as well as Radiophonist license enabling communication with ATC.
