The Swedish electric performance car company, confirms plans to put the Polestar electric roadster concept into production. The Polestar 6 electric performance roadster is scheduled to go on sale in 2026 as the final product. Starting on August 16, 2022, interested clients in all of the active Polestar markets can reserve a build space online.
“With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down.”
The electric roadster concept, known as the Polestar O2, was unveiled in Los Angeles in March. It expands on the design, technological, and sustainable goals outlined in the Polestar Precept and demonstrates the brand’s vision for future sports automobiles.
On a custom bonded aluminum base developed by Polestar, the hard-top convertible will be constructed. It was created internally and will have the high-performance, 800-Volt electric architecture that Polestar 5 has already verified. This features a dual motor powertrain with a maximum output of 650 kW (884 hp) and 900 Nm, a target 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 250 km/h.
500 numbered units of the “Polestar 6 LA Concept edition,” an unique “LA Concept” variant, will be made to commemorate the debut. The original Polestar O2 concept’s distinctive “Sky” blue bodywork, light leather interior, and distinctive 21-inch wheels will only be seen on these models.
The brand’s participation with the electric roadster concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ events during Monterey Car Week in California, 18–21 August 2022, will be highlighted by the production confirmation.
Up to the anticipated introduction in 2026, more technical information and specification confirmations will be made public as the production car becomes a reality.
