Maik Stephan is Executive Director Corporate Strategy at Volkswagen AG with more than 20 years of experience in different leading positions, both on operative as well as on strategic level.

He holds a diploma degree in Business Economics from the University of Saarbrücken.

Maik Stephan started his career in the year 1995 in the area of Management Consulting at SCG St. Gallen Consulting Group. In 1999 he joined the Volkswagen Group, where he took over the responsibility for the development of the newly founded Internal Consulting unit Volkswagen Consulting.

After 3 years he assumed responsibility in the Corporate Strategic Planning Division, where he became head of Group Product Planning. In 2005 Stephan took over the global responsibility for the Development of New Markets, the Development and Steering of all Group National Sales Companies and Retail Strategy.

The next stage of his career took him in the year 2009 to India, where he was Managing Director of the Volkswagen Group Sales Company in India, in charge of Marketing, Sales and Service of the Brands VW, Audi, Skoda, Porsche and Lamborghini.

After 3 years, Stephan moved to China, where he was appointed Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Import Company responsible for the Import Business of the Brands VW, VW LCV, Skoda, Seat, Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti. Later he assumed responsibility for Group Investor Relations, Network Development, Training and New Mobility Services in China.

From January 2016 until now Stephan is Executive Director Corporate Strategy with the focus on E-Mobility and Strategic Alliances.
