Hummingbird has developed the world’s lightest sustainable bicycle made entirely of flax plant fibers – a first in the world. The new flax model is the same weight as its carbon fiber predecessor, just 6.9kg, and retains all of its strength and elegance.

Prodrive already uses flax materials as an alternative to carbon fiber in its Aston Martin Vantage racing cars. Flax is more lightweight than carbon and provides superior vibration dampening. As with the carbon fiber models, the new flax model passed ISO standards with flying colors after undergoing the industry’s most stringent stress tests.

The flax frame is just one of several options available in the Hummingbird range, which includes single-speed, multi-speed, and electric models.
